Bought my son a pair of Bauer Supremes. After looking at several brands, as an uninitiated dad, I thought the Bauers represented the best buy per dollar. Now that the Lad has used them for a year, I'm convinced I'm right. The TUUK blades and the mounts are better than anything else out there. The lasts in the heel, the entire shoe, the whole package is superior. The shoe fits him perfectly and does not move a bit.
I'm no expert, but kids that bought similarly priced CCM or Mission skates are having trouble. The Boy's Bauers have only needed new laces and sharpening. The cat that sharpens the skates keeps telling me how good they're holding up...and I bought them from his competitor.
I cannot give personal testimony about these skates, because I can hardly walk across the ice, but the Boy is pleased as punch. I've bought few things for so little money that have worked well for him for so long. I'd look at Bauers if I were a prospective hockey dad. The 1000 series is a good value for growing feet, and the 5000s are great if the bambino is through growing
