Aspirin for Children?? (Reply to this comment)
by robynkoz
I really thought Tylenol and Motrin were now considered the pain relievers of choice for children due to the Reye's syndrome issue. My impression was that children's aspirin is now mostly sold for adults who take it for their hearts.
I don't mean to sound critical, but I'm surprised to read of such a well-informed parent as yourself giving your child Aspirin. I'd be interested to hear what your pediatrician has to say about this. Ours always advises Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin (ibuprofen). Both of these come in good-tasting liquids and chewables, so I'm not sure why you felt that this aspirin product was the only one that met your needs. Ibuprofen is especially useful for bad pain, because, with your doctor's approval, it can actually be safe to give a larger dose than described on the package, and get stronger pain and/or fever relief. I'd recommend asking your pediatrician about this.

takes these every day after his quadruple bypass 7 1/2 years ago.
I recall taking them as a child - I wonder if the taste has changed? I'm really not willing to find out (ha ha). that's one memory I choose not to relive.
