I'm so glad this series is over

Durability:
Pros:Challenging transformation, cool beast mode. Better than the Beast Machines version.
Cons:Difficult to transform, 3rd mode useless, loose joints, wings get in the way.
The Bottom Line: Weak joints, poor posability and a disproportional beast mode keep this toy from being recommendable. If you want an Ultra Transmetal 2 toy, get Tigerhawk.
Yes, it's another awkward looking Beast Wars toy. Ever since they started the Transmetals line, the series has produced increasingly crappy toys, and Megatron is no exception. No longer do the toys look like "Robots in Disguise", but now look like robots in both modes.
Megatron, a Transmetals 2 toy, is fairly large - one of the largest Beast Wars toys released. The toy is black and red with metallic color on the chest. The toy itself has a clumsy feel to it, and betrays the "robots in disguise" aspect of Transformers, but does look rather interesting and does have an involved and clever transformation.
The beast mode looks probably the best of his different modes - resembling a menacing robotic dragon. The few flaws include an orb on the figure that resembles a marble. Upon closer inspection, you can see a seat inside the orb that makes me wonder if this toy was taken origionally from the Microman series. Another flaw is the fact that the head is clearly visible at the point where the tail meets the body. On top of that, the head, though cool looking, is not posable at all. The neck refuses to bend into anything other than the wobbly position it origionally sits.
The transformation from beast to robot is fairly complicated, and enjoyable to an extent. The only problem are that the wings tend to get in the way.
The robot form of the toy is fairly decent, although a bit disproportional. The left arm is way too short, and the right arm (formed from the dragon's head) is way too long. Other problems include the odd helmet, and the fact that the toys joints are loose. The toy has 11 points of articulation, or somewhere around that, but the posability is limited due to the loose joints and awkward build of the toy. He simply topples over unless you keep him perfectly upright.
The third mode is useless. Don't even bother with it. The instructions, which are terrible, hardly even touch on how to transform the beast into a dragon on wheels and the mode itself is rediculous.
