We have the AC201-R monitor. It has a rechargeable parent unit and the nursery unit has a battery backup. This is a wonderful system. We have been using it for 7 months now and would not be without it. The sensor pad definitely gives a great sense of comfort and the sound quality is excellent. We have had a few false alarms when our daughter has moved off the pad, but the alarm always stops before we even get to her. We have not yet had to replace the batteries in the nursery unit and have often used it with battery power. If she falls asleep anywhere other than her room we just disconnect the unit and turn it to "Sound only". No problem. The rechargeable parent unit is wonderful. I keep it plugged in by our bed and just disconnect it when we are elsewhere in (or out of) the house.
We would definitely recommend this unit to anyone who would like a peaceful night's sleep. It was well worth the $119 (Canadian) that we paid for it at Toys R Us.
