Pros: None, since Netgear and Linksys offer Routers at about the same price which actually WORK!!!!
Cons: Does not live up to description on package!
I usually use Epinions as a resource to check out products I may have an interest in. I rarely write reviews because what I may feel about certain items has already been said at least several times by other members. However, in this case I see that there are no reviews so far. In addition, this model is flying off of the shelves because of the price (typically $39). Well, I purchased this Belkin Router because I recently bought a Laptop. I already had a Family Desktop with Yahoo!/DSL Internet Service. So, I just needed a router to surf the net on my Laptop using the existing connection. I currently use a Belkin Wireless Mouse on the Family Desktop. It was part of a Wireless Keyboard/Mouse package, but the keyboard was a bit buggy, so I just use the mouse. Little did I know that was strike one against Belkin. Since I was happy with the Belkin Mouse, I decided to give the Router a try. Right from the start, I had to spend an hour with Tech Support to get going. After that it ran pretty good, but I noticed that the box said that a Wireless Network could be achieved using this Router which would allow me to access files from the Main Computer and even access the printer. I ran the Windows XP Wireless Network Setup and had no luck. I called Tech Support and was told that a Network is not possible. The final straw was when I gave Youtube.com a whirl. For some reason, neither computer had an easy time playing videos. Keep in mind that without the router, I have a lightning fast connection that downloads lengthy videos in seconds. Even though my Family Computer is Hardwired to the Router, it was running extremely slow and sometimes the video would lock-up. On the Laptop, I was lucky to get a couple of seconds of video since it would lock-up without fail. I knew this was a problem coming from the router since it was not happening without it. So, I took it back and got a Netgear Wireless Router for the same exact price. I just hooked it up a few hours ago, but already notice an extreme difference!!! First of all, the speed is quite different and so far videos are not locking up. Most Importantly, this little Router actually sets up a Wireless Network that lets me share files and printers between my computers!!! I really wasn't expecting to! So, I would have to tell you avoid the Belkin Router at all costs! Don't do it!!!
