I have been real pleased with this UPS. I bought it for my DISH PVR 501, not my PC. The dish PVR 501 is essentially a Satellite Receiver that can record programs to a 40gig or bigger HD. I did hook it up to my PC and play with the software and USB hook-up. I pulled the plug and all that jazz, PC stayed on but let me know battery was being used. It actually has software that will save your documents before it shuts down.
But I do not use it with my PC, so the first thing I did was pry the BEEPING speaker off the circuit board. What I need it to do, is keep recording my favorite TV programs when the power goes out (which is frequent in my little NC neighborhood).
I did a simple test, first I left it plugged in overnight (but I'm pretty sure it was decently charged out of the box). Then I plugged just the DISH PVR 501 into it and hit record, then pulled the plug. It didn't miss a beat, with no annoying beeps. I left for the day. It eventually ran out of power and cut itself off. I went into my recorded programs to see how long it recorded and I was pleased to see 2 hours and 17 minutes had recorded before it lost power. Hopefully that will be enough time to keep it recording the Redskins or the Tarheels until power guys do their thing.
