I got the TuneBase because I was looking for a way to listen to my iPod in my car. I had considered the tape-adapter but had heard the sound quality was bad, and I also had considered the smaller Belkin FM Adapters that plug into the headphone port, but those would not charge the iPod. I got the Tunebase and was shocked how good the sound quality is.
The Tunebase is an adapter for any iPod; it comes with adapters that clip into the main unit so that it fits iPod video, 4G, photo, mini, and nano. The Adapter has a posable neck that connects to the power dapater, which plugs into your cars power outlet. This may be a problem for some people if their power outlet is in a bad location (under the armrest, down near the floor, etc) because you will have to be able to access the iPods controls.
Once plugged in you can find a frequency that is clearest (it depends on your area... if you go on a roadtrip you may need to change the channel because certain channels work better in certain area) Luckily, the TuneBase uses FM channels from 88.1MHz-107.9MHz, so you have lots of choices on channels. Some of them are amazingly clear, and some are really staticy. However, this may vary depending on your cars stereo system and radio reception. The unit has 4 pre-sets channels you can set.
A major benefit of the Tunebase is that it charges your iPod. So you can go on roadtrips without worrying about the iPod or the adapter charger running out of battery. This is tha major benefit of the TuneBase over other adapters. Even most of the built-in iPod adapters do not charge the iPod.
I highly recommend the Tunebase; I've had mine 2 years and havent had a single problem yet. This is by-far the best iPod car adapter for the price.
