yospiff's Full Review: Belkin TuneTies Earphone / Headphone for Apple iPo...
I picked up a pack of these yesterday and find they work exactly as advertised.
I suppose Belkin is trying to jump on the IPod bandwagon with the marketing for these. Labeling them as "for IPod" probably ensures they get placed in with the IPod accessories. They will work with any similarly sized earbuds.
It's a simple concept: a bone shaped rubber holder that you wind the cord around the middle area, then place the earbuds into the round holes to store them. This is probably where the "for Ipod" comes in. The holes are sized for the 'buds that come with IPods. I use a set of Philips earbuds that have earhooks, and even though the earbuds fit, the hooks hang out the side and they don't stay in place in this manner. I then found that if I slide the earhooks themselves through the hole together, it keeps it all tidy and easy to toss in my pocket. I tried it with some Apple ear buds as well, and I found the ear buds tended to push out the hole from the other side. If the holes were closed off on one side that might work a little better. I decided that either way, I prefer to simply hook the last bit of cord in the slot on the end and let the buds dangle.
The way the cord wraps around this makes it very easy to unwind just the amount of cord I want. Right now my MP3 player is in front of my keyboard with only about 2 feet of cord unwound.
I picked up a 3 pack of these in red, grey and black for about $10. They do the job nicely, and the cord doesn't get tangled anymore.
