I first tried Benadryl Allergy/Sinus Headache shortly after it came on the market. Why? I have allergies, both seasonal and other allergies, plus I tend to get a sinus headache along with or shortly after an allergy attack.
I like Benadryl Allergy/Sinus Headache for one simple reason, it works! I have tried others on the market that are the allergy/sinus kind and they just didn't get rid of my headache and they didn't work as well on my allergies. Before the allergy/sinus medicines came on the market I would have to take an allergy medicine and Tylenol to get rid of the headache and allergy symptoms.
It has three main ingredients -- antihistamine, decongestant and pain reliever. Benadryl is a strong antihistamine and should be taken with care. It will make you drowsy. The combination of these main ingredients works very well for me.
It works on those itchy watery eyes, sneezing and runny nose, all symptoms of allergies alone, but it also works on sinus headache, the pain and pressure that usually accompanies a sinus headache and nasal congestion. It works rather quickly too, usually within 15 to 20 minutes for me, at least on the easing of the allergy symptoms like sneezing and itchy, watery eyes, a little longer on the sinus headache.
If you only have the allergy symptoms and not the sinus problems, I would suggest Benadryl Allergy, but if you suffer from nasty sinus problems along with your allergies this would probably work for you. It comes in a 24 and 48 count box and I usually get the 24 count box. It can be taken every 6 hours as needed and you take 2 pills or caplets per dose.
Like I mentioned before, it does make you drowsy, so there are times when you would not want to take it and may want to take something else. Most of the time I take it when my allergies are really bad and/or I have a sinus headache along with it. I have used this for years and it is the only over the counter medicine that works for my allergy/sinus problems.
