Pros: Nice light scent
Cons: Doesn't provide long-term moisturization; shimmer is next to none.
The Bottom Line: Not a good moisturizer and doesn't really provide much shimmer, so stick with other products that do a better job in these areas.

| pilarzmom's Full Review: Benefit Maybe Shimmering Body Lotion For Baby |
One of the beauty product lines I have been eager to try out is Benefit. I pass by their counter every time I'm in my local Macy's and their cute packaging is very eye-catching, as well as the names they have given their products. So far I have resisted the overwhelming temptation to buy something. So naturally I was quite pleased when I received a free miniature sample jar of their Maybe Baby shimmering body lotion with an order from Sephora last fall.
Normally Maybe Baby lotion comes packaged in an apricot-colored tube with 6.7 ounces of product and retails for $22. It may be bought separately or as a part of a gift set with their Maybe Baby Eau de Toilette.
Its light scent is clean and fresh, with what Benefit calls a "lingering fusion of white ginger, apricot & a tumble of white blossoms." Benefit also says that Maybe Baby will give you a "champagne shimmer from sexy shoulders to flirty feet." Hmmm, sounded nice to me! After being married for nearly 12 years I do need ways to add a little allure.
~My impressions~
I liked the initial look of the lotion. It was thick and more cream-like--not like a lotion at all. Maybe Baby is light apricot, somewhat peachy in color. Its scent upon application is very light and not overwhelming at all. It would work well with other scents as it is not heavy and would not conflict with them.
My main interest, however, was its ability to do a decent job of moisturizing, and see its shimmer. I had some Cranberry Shimmer Lotion from The Body Shop that I had been using around the holidays, but I needed to get something else for the rest of the year, something a little less fruity that would not conflict with my scents that I used.
When I initially applied Maybe Baby it did make my skin soft and supple. It added a nice glisten, too, although the shimmer was very minimal. In fact, I really had to look hard in the sunlight to see anything. Ok, so little shimmer, but it did add moisture and a nice glow to my skin. Or did it? An hour passed and I looked at my hands and shoulders and they looked quite dry and certainly no healthy glow like they had an hour earlier. The scent was already gone, too, although this could be expected for most lotions of this type.
~Final thoughts and recommendations~
It would be hard for me to recommend Maybe Baby based on my experience. It did a very poor job of providing long term mositurization and its "champagne shimmer" was next to none. While some might like to use to "layer" with Maybe Baby Eau de Toilette, I certainly wouldn't waste my money on it. I would recommend spending money on a better moisturizer, such as a body butter from the Body Shop, and some decent glitter powder such as one of Urban Decay's flavored varieties. That way you look and feel (and uh, taste!) good all night long!
About Benefit
Benefit was founded by twin sisters from Indiana, Jean and Jane Ford. After finishing a modeling stint with Calgon, the sisters launched a makeup boutique called The Face Place in San Francisco in 1976 with an emphasis on fun products. Soon word got out and more counters opened around the city. The Face Place was renamed to Benefit in 1990 and took on a worldwide presence in the cosmetics industry. It now has over 600 counters worldwide, including in such major outlets as Henri Bendel, New York and Harrods and Selfridges, London. (source: www.benefitcosmetics.com)
