BeneFit Cosmetics touts their ooh la lift as an “instant under-eye brightening boost” on their website. The box calls it an “under eye de-puffer” and goes on to say that it “helps to ….. firm the under-eye area with the help of extracts of raspberry, algae and chamomile.”
Being a single mom to an 11 year old boy who also happens to have insomnia and work out of town – well all of that is more than enough to make me want to try this product. I should probably be up front and tell you that I tend to have a love/hate relationship with BeneFit Cosmetics. At least for me it seems that their products are either amazing or 100% worthless with a handful of just ok’s thrown in for good measure. I was certainly hoping that ooh la lift would fall into the amazing category as I can use all the help I can get!
Product Info
BeneFit Cosmetics sells their ooh la lift for $22. For that you get what appears to be a lip gloss tube of a pale pink cream. The tube holds 0.25 oz of product and has a doe tipped applicator. To apply one is to simply dot a little bit of this product under their eye area and tap it into place at which point one is supposed to look refreshed.
This product can be used over or under makeup according to BeneFit.
My Experience
My problem… ok, one of my problems is dark under eye circles. I’ve seen some pretty horrific looking under eye circles and mine really cannot compare to those. But mine are visible and frankly I’d like them to become invisible. It’s really just not a good look for me (or pretty much anyone, really). Since I’m turning 35 in a few months I am starting to notice more fine lines – especially around my eyes. I’m not neurotic about this, but if a product may help make my under eye area look better then I’m all for it!
Normally to hide the dark circles I use a concealer and have tried a few illuminating products over the years as well. Some worked quite well while others did nothing. Since I have dry skin another problem I have is trying to find a concealer that is hydrating enough for my under eye area (or at the very least non drying) while not settling into the fine lines around my eyes. And of course I also want that concealer to actually work and cover up the dark circles. It doesn’t seem like it should be so hard to find a product that does that and the truth is I do have a concealer I use under my eyes that I do like. A lot. But I don’t love it. It could be better. Thus, I’m here writing this review of yet another product.
When I went to use BeneFit’s ooh la lift for the first time I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I expected nothing. And I was not disappointed. In this instance that was not a good thing. You see, I dotted the pale pink cream under my eyes and gently daubed it around/into my skin. And nothing. I’m not kidding. It was as if I had done nothing at all. There was no noticeable difference in my eye circles or eye puffiness whatsoever. Not even a hint of something. Not in any light. So I thought ok, I’ll try it over my concealer and see if that helps. It doesn’t. Again, I could not even tell I had applied ooh la lift.
So I thought I’d test it out on my hand. Almost the same thing. Almost as in, only if I tilted the spot I’d applied BeneFit’s ooh la lift to just so – so the light hit it just right I could see some slight luminosity. I mean very slight. I think if were more Casper pale it would be easier to see, but as it is, I’ve got a light skin tone. For the whole de-puffing aspect, the skin my hand did feel every so slightly tighter; hardly worth noting. It may have even been all in my head. Who knows?
Yeah, so yay for blowing $22.00… or not
I’ve found BeneFit’s ooh la lift to do absolutely nothing for me. I found it to be a total waste of time and money. Because of that I strongly recommend you save your hard earned cash and do not purchase this product.
