| skygrrl's Full Review: Benefit She Laq |
I went into the department store to buy another BeneFit product, Benetint. Unfortunately they had run out of it. The sales lady tried to sell me some other products that I was not interested. Then she said, "Hey, you want your makeup to stay on all day?" My ears perked up. She asked me what brand eye shadow I used. I told her Elizabeth Arden, so she went over to the Elizabeth Arden counter and put a swatch of eye shadow on the back of my hand. She then painted She-Laq on it. I waited one minute for it to dry, and she told me to rub it. Guess what! The eyeshadow didn't budge. I was impressed. She tried to get me to buy it them, but I said I would go shopping first, and if the makeup was still on by the time I was ready to leave, I'd buy it. She said, "Go for it!:"
Two hours later, after shopping about, I looked at the back of my hand, and, the makeup was still there, with no fading. I went back and purchased a bottle. ($25 plus tax).
A little goes a long way. If you over-apply it, you can tell, it will look like you put clear nail polish over your makeup. If you use it sparingly, you can't tell there is anything over your makeup.
Another reviewer claimed the product didn't work on lips: this is true on the creamy type lipsticks and glosses. On less creamy lipsticks, it works fine.
The only down side, other than the price, is waiting for the product to dry. On eye shadow, you need to keep your eyes closed while it dries or the makeup will "stick" in the crease of your eye. I put the hair dryer on low for 5 seconds and it dries real fast. I recommend putting the makeup on your eyelids one eye at a time.
This product has been great in the Florida heat and humidity. My eye shadow and eyebrow color that would usually wear off by noon, now makes it to the end of the day. This stuff doesn't make your makeup waterproof: I would use a waterproof mascara rather that use the mascara wand that comes with the She-Laq.
I have had my bottle for about a month, and if I use it every day I think I will get a total of three month's use out of it.
