Based on extremely good review on Bergad mattresses on epinion I bought Bergad Opulence for $1400. I wanted to buy a firm mattress. The Bergad sales representative said that Opulence is their firmest mattress, similar to the Rhapsody of Tempurpedic. I tried Rhapsody in the local store, it was great and then decided to order Opulence from Bergad.
I did not have any problem with Yellow, they arrived as promised, however they provide only curbside delivery. I paid to my neighbour to help me to bring the mattress to the apartment.
When I tried it, i immediately felt that it was not a Rhapsody! The mattress is much softer than Rhapsody, mushy, it takes much longer to adapt to the body shape when you change the position, etc. What a disappointment! I thought I can get used to the mattress and kept it for the trial period. However, every night I woke up several times because the mattress was too hot and I sweat terribly (their Coolmax cover does not do the job). The worst thing, every morning I woke up with a back pain.
Before the trial period expired, I called Bergad and said that I want to return it back. The next day I sent it back with the same Yellow guy who brought it to me.
Few weeks later Bergad reimbursed me the cost of the mattress without shipment, which in my case cost me almost 400$ (I live in Washington DC area).
Next day I went to the local Sticks'n Stuff store at Rockville Pike which is going out of business. For $499 (almost for the cost of Bergad's shipment) I bought a Sterns & Foster Latex + Memory Foam mattress (model Belle Isle). For extra $20 the mattress was delivered to my home.
This mattress was like day and night: no more sweating, my back pain is gone.
Bottom line:
1) Opulence is NOT Tempurpedic, much softer!
2) Always ask for the shipment cost in case you want to return it back.
3) Most important, never, never buy mattress before you try it!
