I have been using the Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters for several years. Berkley came out with these scented Powerbaits about ten years ago. I have found most of them to be good fishing products. I use the Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters while fishing for Steelhead, Salmon or Rainbow Trout. These baits have a scent that lasts for many casts. Berkley also has a flavored salt on the outside of the soft plastic baits in addition to the embedded scents. This tends to wash off after a couple of casts. I am not sure how good these scents work. What I like about the Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters is their shape and strength. Their shape looks, smells and feels like the real deal. This bait will last a lot longer than cured roe. The
Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters works nearly as good as natural roe.
If I get tired of cutting and tying up roe, Ill throw on some Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters. This bait is made of a soft durable rubber, so it tends to last a long time. I use the Florescent Red, Fluorescent Orange and Methiolate egg clusters when Trout fishing. I put one or two clusters on a # 2 hook, with about 18 inches of leader. This puts my Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters about one foot off the bottom of a river in the strike zone. After about ten casts, I will apply different scents to the Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters to enhance my chances of attracting a fish. Some of the better scents are Basswax and B.A.N.G. I also use the Yellow & Orange colored egg clusters when Bass fishing.
► Pink/Purple
► Florescent Red
► Fluorescent Orange
► Bubble Gum
► Yellow & Orange
► Methiolate (Redish)
My final thoughts on Berkey Steelhead / Salmon Egg Clusters
I have used several brands of these types of soft rubber egg cluster baits. Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters are among the best. Their shape, scent, durability and ease of use make them a must have for the serious trout angler. The scent might not last as long as I would like, but thats why I have other scents to apply. Berkley has manufactured quality fishing products for over 50 years. Some more popular products that Berlkey has produced are as follows; Trilene, FireLine, Powerbait soft scented baits, Gulp Super Bait and Tournament Strength baits. The Berkley Steelhead Egg Clusters will catch Steelhead, Salmon and Rainbow Trout. I would recommend these innovative soft rubber baits to any river fisherman at any level.
