| northeastgal's Full Review: Berkshire Microplush Blanket -- King Size |
This past Christmas I purchased several plush blankets for gifts. I really liked the feel and the colors. Those I gave them to I know also liked them. While wrapping these gifts, I decided I wanted one also. I've had the same blanket for too many years. My blanket was 100% cotton, very warm, very heavy, took forever to dry but looked like new. I liked it but these new microfiber blankets being sold everywhere were really tempting me to change to luxury comfort every time I saw them at a store.
I went to a new store by my home, Home Goods, and noticed this Berkshire Microplush Blanket. What attracted me to it mostly was the color, Celestial Blue. This is a hard shade of blue to find which matches my bedding; bedspread and curtains perfectly. I could not pass this by and decided to purchase it. After all, I can't miss a sale. I have a queen size bed but this was King Size. Regular price was $29.99, reduced to $22 and reduced again to $16! On the price tag it states "Compare at $60". I looked at the size, 108" X 90" and thought I could reverse it and have more length than width. It was probably reduced because of the color since there was nothing wrong with it.
When I went home, the color matched perfectly and loved the way it fit. I wrapped the old blanket and kissed it good-bye.
Because this blanket is remarkably lightweight, I thought "How can something light and soft keep me as warm as my heavy, cotton one?" I tried it for the past week and I have no regrets. It is much easier turning in the middle of my sleep without having to lift a heavy blanket.
I checked the stitching around the seam and am impressed they did a tight zig-zag which is more durable rather than straight stitch. I washed it to see how it would wash since I read conflicting reviews and it washed very well. The amount of lint collected was not as much as others claimed. It was the normal new fabric fuzz. It did take longer than I anticipated to dry since it's a king size.
Upon visiting the website, I noticed this Serasoft blanket comes in 14 different colors. It's 100% Polyester, machine wash and dry and it comes with an "absolute Satisfaction Guarantee" for a full refund or replacement when sent back.
Overall - Living in New Jersey, I need a blanket that is not too heavy but warm enough for the few winter months we have. It was time for me to update to a newer plush blanket.
I am completely satisfied with the luxury feel, lightweight, size, stitching and how well it washes. I am glad I waited for after Christmas to find the right blanket for me at a great price.
