| filth_magnet's Full Review: Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria |
I have been to Bertucci's a couple of times. Usually I go there just for take out and I only order their rolls. Their rolls are superb...they come hot out of the oven and go great with butter. The rolls are only $0.25 each, so if you are a starving scrub and don't have nothing but a quarter and a couple odd cents (for tax) in your pocket, this is the place to go....
Now off to the service...the service was alright. The staff was courteous, but I noticed they were all in a big hurry. But I suppose the resturant was very busy that night so I can understand if a waitress/waiter comes by for a quick, "How are you folks doing?" and then dashes away. I would take that over nothing any day. The food did come at a decent time. But when my party and I waited for a table it took forever to get a table, perhaps an hour. And the interesting thing was people who came before us were seated. But I really don't know how the seating thing goes by so I won't criticize too much. It is just that we were starving and they took so long.
I ordered a brick oven pizza with mozzarella (sometimes you can get goat cheese), onions, Italian sausage and bell peppers. What I really like about Bertucci's is their flat dough. It's not crispy in any way, rather chewy and bread-like. So if you are into crispy pizza dough, this is not the place for you. The mozzarella is REAL mozzarella cheese...so it is cut into big slices and thrown on the dough...so don't expect the whole pie to be smothered in cheese like some pie from Dominos or Pizza Hut. The onions and peppers were not cooked all the way through which was nice. You could taste the "crunchiness" of the vegetables which I like on a pizza. The Italian sausage on the pie is great too. It has just enough spice and flavor.
That's all I ordered besides a Coke. It is a big serving, so I did take home 4 slices of leftover pizza. Another tip, is that the pizza, in my opinion, tastes great cold.
I would have to say that Bertucci's is an expensive resturant. Do not expect paying less than $15.00 for a one person meal. That's probably one pizza and a drink plus tip. For some that's a reasonable price for dinner, but perhaps I am a typical struggling college student. *shrug*
At least you get a lot of leftovers to take home.
I have been to a couple of different Bertucci's in Massachusetts. I would have to say some resturants are not as great as others. If I would recommend a resturant it would have to be the one in Braintree, near the Newbury Comics and the Braintree Mall.
It is a great family restaurant and has a nice atmosphere.
