| blakes_girl's Full Review: Bertucci's Brick Oven Pizzeria |
As stated in my other review my family and I tend to eat out quite a bit, usually once or twice a week. One of my absolute favorite places to eat is Bertucci's, it is a bit pricey to do all the time, but we like to go at least once a month or so. . We haven't gone to one since we moved and we decided to check out one that is about half hour away.
They offer appetizers, soups, salads, brick oven pizzas, pasta, calzones and Italian sandwiches. Not to mention the TONS of specials they have each and everyday. All things considered it usually costs us $12-$15 a piece for my husband and me, and $5-$7 for our son. They have a pretty good kids menu, which has, pasta, and pizza, but not much else. My son almost always goes for the spaghetti. They also have a lunch menu, but I have never been for lunch so I am not sure what is on it. We do not normally get appetizers, but they ranged in price from $4.79 to $9.00.
Another very nice feature is that there is an open kitchen to the one we were at. We could actually see them preparing the pizzas and things right in front of us. There was no need to worry about a dirty kitchen when you can see it.
We arrived at about 6:30 and we were seated almost immediately and the waitress was very kind and full of smiles. And before I could even say anything she had brought over crayons and an activity sheet for our son to occupy himself with. She asked us if we would like anything to drink while we looked over the menu and then took off in a hurry to go get our drinks. I didn't even have a chance to get through half the items on the page I was looking at when she came back with our drinks. This may not seem strange except the place was pretty busy and our waitress was taking care of several people besides us.
She said she would be back in a minute to take our order and she left us to ourselves. When she came back a few minutes later we ordered and she rushed off to have it cooked. After she left and we were chatting I had a chance to look around and I was very surprised at the amount of people, the place was packed yet we had very prompt service. I was beginning to think we had been mistaken for celebrities or something. I also noticed that the restaurant was very clean and was very trendy.
Our food arrived in about 15 minutes and it was hot and VERY good. I had a pasta dish that consisted of multi-colored pasta, chicken, olives, and tomatoes with a white sauce, and let me tell you it was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. My husband had gotten a chicken, pepper pizza and couldn't stop raving about it, and I had to try. It had goat cheese on it that I wasn't to keen about, but it did taste very good. My son of course had the spaghetti and one of the nicest things was the waitress had given him an extra meatball. My son had asked how many meatballs came with it and the waitress told him that it came with 2 about the size of quarters, my son loves meatballs and he was hoping for 3, which he said out loud. It was very kind of the waitress to do this for him and she didn't even charge us extra.
During the meal we saw the waitress a couple of more times making sure we had enough to drink and that everything was ok.
The portions were so big that my husband and I both had enough for another meal the next day. So even though it is kind of expensive the portions are worth it.
I can definitely say we will be going back again in the near future. The service, atmosphere, food were all superb.
