Best Ammonium Sulfate is a very inexpensive fertilizer that will give your lawn an quick feed of nitrogen that will turn your lawn green in a short matter of time. This green up will not last as long as other fertilizers and it may be misleading you as to the overall health of your lawn.
Most lawn fertilizers are broken down into three parts:
Nitrogen: Promotes growth and greening
Phosphorus: For root development and seed development
Potassium: Gives your lawn resistance to drought and disease
Best Ammonium Sulfate has one of the above: Nitrogen. Best promotes this product as a fast acting product to be used when immediate growth and color are needed. That is a very accurate statement. This product will give you a very fast growth spurt and green up of your lawn. It will do the following:
Your lawn will grow very fast. (Weeds included)
Your lawn will turn green very fast.
What Best Ammonium Sulfate will not do is:
Not stay as green as long as with other fertilizers.
The Best Ammonium Sulfate is a fast release, fast acting fertilizer. It will not last and your lawn will turn brown faster. (You will need to fertilize again sooner).
Your lawn will not be provided with any root development assistance.
Your lawn will not be provided with any disease resistance assistance.
Because the product is cheaper some will think that money is saved by using it. Over the long run it might cost you more money if you plan to continually care for your lawn. Your lawn is an investment. If you feed it well it will be easier to care for and will last longer.
I would use this product under the following conditions:
1. You need an instant green up of a lawn you will no longer care for.
Example: Sale of a home
2. You have some grass that you do not care about but wish to turn green.
Example: An area of lawn you will eventually remove that you wish to
look good until the removal.
The product is meant for a quick green up of lawns without the benefit of the more expensive fertilizers.
