Pros: Easy to use in an emergency! Works completely!
Cons: The color could be less blood like
Betadine is one thing you should always have in your medicine cabinet for killing germs, quickly, that are brought on by minor cuts, scrapes and even burns.
This can only be compared to the peroxide solutions, as far as I am concerned. Keeping peroxide around is great, but, for no pain, great results, try this Betadine. This is available at most pharmacies, drug stores, over the counter.
The color is something I would change, if I had the power. That is only because the color has the 'blood' hue to it. When you apply it, it can confuse one, if the blood or the Bentadine is flowing! Still, it works wonders on quickly killing germs and bacteria. That is what is important to me.
It comes in an easily used plastic bottle with a snap tight top. Snap open the top, and you can just squirt the solution onto the portion of the body that needs it. Keep this only for topical usage, never for swallowing or getting into your eyes. It is the number one Brand used by Hospitals for an antiseptic solution. There are 8 fluid ounces in a standard bottle of Betadine solution. That will last you a very long time, as you only need a tiny bit to kill the germs and bacteria. Keep it away from children, of course.
Clinics, that I am familiar with, use this solution for cuts, scrapes, and burns. I do have a lot of personal uses for this solution, as I am a teacher who does see a lot of scrapes and little cuts. This is a good thing to put onto damaged skin, even if you ARE on the way to E.R.!
I bought this product, because I know that clinics and hospitals use this. My own doctor keeps it in the examination room, at his office.
I will describe the major time that I used this product: I had something sharp fall from a high spot, onto my bare foot. My toe was, literally, falling off, except the bone was in tact. This was my little toe, the smallest one. The blood was gushing hard, and I could not stop the gushing of blood long enough to drive myself to the hospital. It was my right foot. Since I could not drive to the hospital, no one was home to help me, and I was losing lots of blood really fast, I sewed up my toe, myself. (Quite nicely, my Dr. says!). I used a sewing needle that I burned with flame, and thread that I had put this solution onto. I had to make 5 stitches to get all the meat back to where it belonged on my toe. Then, I saw my doctor. I was able to drive, after I had sewn up the gushing blood. My doctor was/is amazed at the sewing that I was able to do on my toe, and he told me that using this solution probably saved my toe! My doctor did not resew the toe, he said it was just fine the way I had sewn it. My toe still works, and has returned to having meat in the right places on it! While it was healing, I used Betadine solution on the toe, daily. I believe that the fact that no infection ever 'came' to the toe, is proof enough for me, that this is a very great medical solution to keep around.
You do not need to expect major emergencies, but, they do happen. Smaller cuts, etc. are what you should always be prepared to deal with. Betadine solution will take care of this and it will keep your damaged skin areas clean! Germs and bacteria do not want to have anything to do with this solution. I'd say, my toe is proof enough for me. What do you use for everyday scrapes, etc.? Try Betadine Solution and be SURE you have eradicated all the germs and bacteria!
