Better Homes & Gardens Is My Favorite Cookbook!

Written: Jul 24 '00
Pros:Great variety of classic and newer recipes.
Cons:NONE!

First off, the copy of the Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook I am reviewing is the 2000 limited edition printing. Along with all of the wonderful recipes that this cookbook already carries, their is a special "favorite recipes" section. These recipes are some of the most requested recipes of the past 70 years! With all that said......

The Better Homes & Garden Cookbook was first introduced in 1930 to a depression-era America. The simple, unique recipes that this first edition possessed, gave people great ideas for wonderful meals, even if they didn't have much to work with. From easy quick breads, to complete dinners for 20, this cookbook had it all.

What the Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook first introduced to America in 1930, they continuously strived to improve throughout the years. The cookbook changed with the times giving people what they wanted. Whether it was the great waffle craze of the 50's. or elegant and chic bistro cuisine of the 80's, the better homes & gardens cookbook always strived to deliver the best of the best recipes in the world.

Even though most of the better homes & gardens cookbook has changed with the times, there are a few things that haven't changed. The familiar red & white checked cover, makes the book very easy to find. The book is also very easy to use. A quick index section, along with handy tabs at the beginning of each chapter, makes searching for a new recipe a breeze.

The better homes & gardens cookbook is also a national favorite. Chances are, one of your families favorite recipes came from one edition or another. Another great plus in this cookbook is there love for the classics. Even though the better homes & gardens cookbook tends to favor recent trends when it comes to there recipes, they also know there classics! If your looking for a classic pot roast for a Sunday dinner, or a 7 layered cake for a child's birthday party, don't look any further than this book. You'll find everything your looking for, and then some, in this cookbook.

I did mention at the beginning of this review that I have the current copy, which is the year 2000 limited edition. This is my first Better Homes & Gardens cookbook, and it is the only one I need. Along with the special all time favorites section at the end of the book, all of my other cookbooks are collecting dust! This cookbook is the only one you will ever need!
