Biba serves dishes you don't get elsewhere. For example, I was there for lunch and had lobster pizza. Quite good, though honestly not the best lobster dish I ever had (nor the best pizza I ever had): the combination was maybe a tad too daring.
The bread basket was extremely good, and even included a Nan bread even though this is definitely not an Indian restaurant. In fact, Biba doesn't follow any of the established national cuisines. The menu was very interesting and the service was good as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and yet upscale. I had a very enjoyable business lunch there with a Boston-based colleague.
Even so, I think Biba lacks the last level of refinement to be a truly, truly great restaurant. But I may well go there again on my next trip to Boston. They really do have so many interesting-sounding unusual dishes on the menu that I want to try some more.
