MagickCat's Full Review: Bic Atlantis Retractable Ballpoint Pen Medium Poin...
Economical, stylish, and comfortable, the Atlantis was penned as all three on the packaging. I saw this slender little wonder from the island under the sea and thought how could I flounder with an Atlantian pen?
All about Comfort.
Equipped with a cushioned grip, the Atlantis scores minimal points on the comfort scale. The rubber like material is soft enough but I find the grip is too narrow to be comfortable for my hand. There is just something in the shape of this pen that makes holding it unpleasant.
Maybe I need webbed fingers.
The button used to retract the ballpoint is stiff and awful to push down on. It feels like a skeletal finger digging into the soft flesh of my thumb.
This is the perfect writing instrument to let a pen thief "borrow". The downside is they might actually return it.
Smooth Moves
Atlantis is smooth like a pearl, but is it super-smooth like the package clams?
From what I can tell the Atlantis isn't anything special as far as smoothness goes. While Atlantis can't hold a candle to the fluidity of a waterman, or to be fair even a cheap-o gel pen. It writes marginally better than many of the junk ballpoint pens I have kicking around my desk.
A plus is that after a month's worth of drawing and writing, Atlantis doesn't skip ink often.
A S-Ink-ing feeling
The ink is a nice medium black. Another plus it the ink doesn't smudge very much, which is very good, but somehow it got onto my shirt. Very strange.
The ink cartridge is not transparent. This is not a good pen to take with you for an exam, or for anything else that is important, because you can't see how much ink is left in the chamber.
I couldn't find any refills for Atlantis. I wonder if they are off the coast of Bimini?
Atlantis is also available in blue, green and red.
Other features
It has a pocket clip, I don't use it, pocket clips are for nerds. The clip is plastic. That about covers it.
An unfortunate discovery. All myth no substance.
Atlantis is o.k if only used for an inexpensive throwaway pen. I was really suckered in by the packaging and came out disappointed with the actual product.
This pen isn't something that I would want to do a lot of writing or drawing with. I wouldn't use it for much more than writing down a grocery list or lending it to someone I hate.
