acdc711's Full Review: Bic Wite-Out Plus White Correction Fluid Quick Dry...
Being in a large office is sometimes a disadvantage because I am not responsible for ordering supplies. If I did the ordering, you could rest assured that I would not buy Super Smooth BIC Wite-Out Brand Correction Fluid.
First, let me tell you that BIC Wite Out does take away the under-printing, but you have to use half of the bottle to accomplish that task. Also, if you were to print or type on top of the newly whited out letters, be prepared to go on a bumpy ride. This wite out is as smooth as a pebbled driveway.
Of course, the manufacturer boasts that:
"It works for all corrections, ink, pencil, photocopies, faxes, computer and electronic printouts, highlighter and more."
"Specially formulated to dry mirror smooth for invisible rewrites."
"Contains no chemicals known to deplete the ozone layer."
"BIC Wite-Out Plus is available in Super Smooth, Quick Dry, Extra Coverage and Water Base formulations."
There is a warning on the outside packaging, and on each bottle inside saying that the product is flammable It does tell you that you should keep it away from fire, flames & children. Also it tells you not to swallow it, or inhale it because the contents can be harmful or cause death.
What's in it you ask. Well, by looking at the packaging and the bottle, you would never know what was in this product. I looked all over their own site, and then all over the internet, and finally found this on:
"The ingredients in our Wite-Out Brand Correction Products are considered proprietary and confidential. We can tell you that the following Wite-Out Brand formulas are petroleum-based: Quick Dry, Super Smooth, Extra Coverage, Multi Purpose Commercial and Shake 'n Squeeze Correction Pen. Water-Base correction fluid is a water-based fluid."
You can find more on the following site: http://www.wite-out.com/faqs/
Here are some of BIC's the other correction products:
Shake N' Squeeze Correction Pen
Correction Tape
Correction Film
Exact Liner Correction Film.
I cannot comment on these products as I have never used them.
I am sitting here with Wite Out all over my hands, as I experimented with removing different types of writing tools.
Blue Ink: two to three coats to cover it up.
Black Sharpie Permanent Marker, two to three coats to cover it up.
Black Pen: Two to three coats to cover it up.
Typing: Two coats to cover it up.
After I wrote this review, I washed my hands three times and still I have remnants of it on my skin. They tell you to wash with something abrasive to get it off.
Bring back the old carbon paper, and a penciled eraser for better editing. I would rather deal with that, then this product.
