Pros:Clears blemishes without over drying or irritating the surrounding skin, can be used under makeup
Cons:A bit more expensive than many of it's competitors (but worth it)
The Bottom Line: Whether you're experiencing teen acne, or just an occasional blemish, Bioré® Blemish Double Agent™ Acne Treatment can help!
Wow! Do I wish this stuff had been around during my teen years!!!! Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment puts Clearasil to shame and out does Stridex by miles and it sends Avons ClearSkin running for cover! I cant really say how it compares to higher-end blemish treatments, because when I was young I used drugstore products almost exclusively
and while Ive been using better brands for a while now and Elizabeth Arden products almost exclusively for 6 years or so, I have never actually purchased a more expensive brand of acne or blemish treatment. My skin seems to have cleared up for the most part, and over the past few years, Ive treated the occasional blemish that does occur with a tube of Clearasil that I purchased on a clearance table at Eckerd forever ago. But if youre currently using a higher end product and arent 100% convinced that its worth the department store price, or youre using a less remarkable cheap drugstore product and arent getting the results you want, you might want to give Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment a try! Im certainly glad that I did!

What is Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment?
Biore.com tells us that Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment "Visibly reduces redness and blemish size after one application, without over-drying your skin." And I absolutely agree with this claim. I tend to use the treatment at night, even though its designed to be used under your make up to help keep out the makeup and dirt while sealing in the salicylic acid
but I usually just apply it at night before going to bed, and when I wake up the next morning the blemish absolutely is less noticeable. Its not usually gone after just one treatment, but it is smaller and less ugly and much more easily covered with a bit of foundation or concealer. And unlike when I use Clearasil or other similar products, the blemish has not formed an almost scab-like hard spot and the skin around the blemish isnt irritated and dry and flaky.
Biore tells us that while the product forms an invisible barrier that keeps dirt and makeup out that it does allow air and water vapor to flow freely which assists in the healing process. The product may tingle a bit if applied to a broken or irritated blemish, but the sensation should be mild and last only a few seconds. In addition to the salicylic acid, which breaks down the material clogging the pore and aids in healing the blemish, Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment contains Panthenol (provitamin B) and other ingredients to sooth the skin and actually moisturize it to prevent an overly dry flakiness. The product has a mild menthol scent that I find very pleasant and clean smelling. The scent dissipates quickly.
How do you use Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment?
Biore suggests that the following steps for using the product:
1. Cleanse face & pat dry
2. Apply product to blemish areas
3. Let dry (gel will form clear barrier) then apply moisturizer and make up as usual
I think that applying a thin layer of this product to larger areas before applying makeup would work very well for someone with a scattering of blemishes or patches of acne. For my use however, I simply dot a little dab onto individual blemishes at night just before bedtime, and I may apply it a bit more heavily since Im not applying it over a large area or under my make up. On the few occasions that Ive applied it in the morning and then applied my makeup, it seemed to work just fine. You do need to be sure to apply only a thin coat and allow time for the gel to soak into the skin and dry completely before applying your makeup.
The product dries clear and does not seem to have a conspicuous sheen, so I think it would also be a product that might work well for males and females who do not wear makeup but need a product to use during the day. Unlike tinted acne medications this wont take on an unnatural yellowy-orange look and unlike the white creams it wont leave you with a big white dot on each blemish.
Biore states that the product is intended to be used as a treatment and not necessarily as a preventative measure. However they suggest an acne fighting facial wash as a preventative cleanser and state that this product can be used at the first sign of a blemish to prevent it from becoming worse. They also state that the product is safe for daily use though drying of the skin is more likely with long term daily use. Ive not noticed any drying when Ive used the product for 2 or 3 days in a row on an individual blemish, but I suppose if used for weeks on end on larger areas of the skin it might cause dry patches and the need for a moisturizer.
Did it improve the way you look or feel?
Absolutely! Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment reduces the size and angriness of blemishes without causing my skin to become dry and flaky or irritated. It takes two or three days for a blemish to go away completely, but this is much better than having it around for a week or more and having it become crusty and dried and hard from the harsh drying ingredients in many other blemish treatments. Ive felt much less self conscious about my occasional (monthly) break outs since Ive started using this treatment on them.
Who should buy this product? Who shouldn't?
This seems to be a wonderful product for treating occasional blemishes on sensitive or mature skin, but would probably also work very well on younger more acne prone skin. I dont think that it would take the place of prescription acne medicine, but it is definitely better (in my opinion) than most of the other blemish creams and treatments in most drugstores. Anyone currently using Clearasil or a similar teen-cream should consider trying this one if you arent 100% happy with your current product.
You can purchase Bioré® Blemish Double Agent Acne Treatment at most drugstores, department stores, and supermarkets with a cosmetics and skincare department or aisle. It can also be purchased on-line from retailers such as Drugstore.com for $7.99 for a 0.75 ounce tube. Its a bit more expensive than other over the counter blemish/acne treatments, but in my opinion it is well worth the price.
