Pros:Pleasant smell.
Cons:For my hair type, this product doesn't do the job.
The Bottom Line: This product might work for hair types less "problematic" than mine. But for me, the product is simply not strong enough.
Dry, brittle, rough, and frizzy. Sadly, I just told you the natural condition of my hair. Luckily there are many products on the market designed for such problems, so I have a lot to choose from. Since I love Biosilk's Silk Therapy Serum, I thought I would really like their daily conditioner. Sadly, Biosilk Silk Therapy Conditioner did not deliver the same great results as the serum.
What is it like, and how do you use it?
The product is thick (like a hand lotion would be), white, with a strong, pleasant scent. According to the bottle, the product contains Vitamin B, silk proteins, herbs, and botanicals. I bought the 11.6 oz bottle, for which I paid around $10. The bottle has a cute shape - it curves in on one side. The curve also makes it easy to grip in the shower, without letting it slip from your hands. Like most daily conditioners, it is designed to be used after you shampoo. According to the directions, you should apply a generous amount, and massage through your hair. Leave it on for 2-5 minutes, then rinse out.
How did it work?
I judge conditioners based upon two things. How my hair behaves while the conditioner is on it, and how it behaves after the conditioner has been rinsed, and the hair is dry. When the conditioner is on my hair, I expect it to feel silky smooth, and rich with moisture. Most importantly, I expect to be able to easily slide a comb through it, with absolutely no tangles. In this regard, Biosilk performed "reasonably well". Not perfectly, but not horribly either. My hair does feel smooth, and well-moisturized when the product is in. The problem is that the comb doesn't slide as easily as it should. Instead, it gets caught in tangles too strong for the Biosilk to dissolve.
With a really good conditioner, when my hair has dried, it should not be frizzy. It should not feel like it needs additional oil added to it. It should feel smooth, and silky, not rough. I have yet to find a conditioner that works perfectly in this regard. That's why I'm always trying new products. The best conditioner I have ever found - the one I use most frequently - still leaves my hair needing some extra work. That's when I use my oil-based finishing products, and anti-frizz serums. However, after the Biosilk, I need a whole lot more than a little extra work. The Biosilk left my hair much frizzier and much drier-feeling than my usual conditioner. For my hair type, this product simply isn't strong enough.
Bottom line
This is a fairly expensive product, one that I had high hopes for. But for my difficult-to-manage hair which needs a lot more help than most, this product simply doesn't do the job.
For those with hair that craves moisture like mine, I recommend using Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum.
