| LILvoyce's Full Review: Bissell 3522 PowerForce Bagged Upright Vacuum |
I am on my second Bissell PowerForce Upright 3522 Upright Vacuum in two months! I was in a pinch and decided to go the inexpensive route. I paid around $48.00 for this vacuum. This was the most inexpensive model I could find at my local Walmart. It came in a box that was able to fit in my Pontiac Sunfire just fine to bring it home. I had to place it in the back seat of the car as it would not fit in my trunk.
This Bissel came with a 12-page users guide that was very easy to read.
Assembly
I was able to assemble this vacuum without feeling the need to curse. All that I needed was a screwdriver. I read the directions once and had it put together in about ten minutes. Assembling consisted of screwing in a few screws and then attaching the hose, and adding attachments.
Durability
I found this vacuum to be somewhat durable. I do not like the Vacuum Door(the cover for the Vacuum Bags, I found it to be a bit flimsy. I also found the hose to be a bit flimsy as well. I think Bissel could have make the hose just a bit thicker. As far as the rest of the vacuum, I did not see to much wrong when it comes to durability and quality of the material, especially for the $48 price that I paid. I will add to my other complaints further in this review.
Color
The majority of the Vacuum is a clear shiny black, that will show the scratches if nicked. On the first Vacuum I purchased it did not have a full indicator. When I returned it to the store to receive a replacement, my new vacuum came with a full indicator. The indicator will stay green until the vacuum bag is full, and then it will turn red.
Ease of Use
I found this The Bissell PowerForce for the most part easy to use. The only complaint I had was that it was just a bit hard to push along my carpets. I loved the attachments, you could pull the hose off and apply the attachments to get in hard to reach areas, especially corners. The attachments were located on the vacuum cleaner that would snap on and off. I love that idea.
The power switch was easy to work, and the handle release pedal was easy to press. I don't really have any low furniture to worry about getting underneath. I do vacuum as close as I can to my couches and furniture. There is a handy light that will help you to see any large objects you may have missed picking up prior to vacuuming. I loved the light. My home seems so dark in the evenings. I could never think of vacuuming in the evening. I had no problems with this Bissel.
Thanks to the furniture protection guard, I have not damaged any of my furniture. I am always bumping into my entertainment center when I vacuum.
Settings
There are three different settings, high for pile or Berber Carpet, medium for short and medium pile carpets, and low for bare floors. I normally place my settings on medium, and I never vacuum my bare floors.
Vacuum Bags The Vacuum cleaner bags are so much easier to use that my older vacuum. Remove the cover, and then pull out the bag. you can practically change it with one hand. Add a new bag and place the opening over the hole, and then your done. It is as easy as that.
First Experience
I loved this vacuum. It sucked really well for about the first month. I had even made sure the Pre- and Post motor filters were clean, the vacuum bags were changed, and nothing was clogging the hose or under the vacuum where the brushes are. The belt was in great shape. It had lost all suction power. I returned this vacuum after four weeks and traded it in on another one.
Second Vacuum
The second Bissel is starting to do the same thing as the first one. I have never used any sort of Vacuum powders with either of these vacuums. I always use the Vacuum Free spray foams that are easy on the Vacuum.
Features
Hose Clip-Works fine and holds the hose in place. Hose-A bit flimsy for my taste. Carrying handle-never used it Quick reach handle Combination Upholstery/Dusting Brush Tool-Works well. Hose Wand-Durable Suction Intake Opening Tool Storage Clips Twist n' Snap Hose (Some Models) Extension Wand Crevice Tool Quick Release Cord Wrap-It is very handy. Power Cord-To short for my needs. Have to change outlets often. Floor Surface Selector Powerfoot Furniture Protection Guard Handle Release Pedal Bag Change Indicator(My first one did not have one, but second did) Post Motor Filter Power Switch-Easy to reach Cord Clip and Handle
Limited One Year Warranty
(Taken from User's Guide)
"Does not cover use that is commercial or rental service, and will not apply to fans, routine maintenance components, such as filters, belts bags or brushed, Damage or malfunction caused by negligence, abuse, unauthorized repair, or any other use not in accordance with the User's Guide."
I have also used the attachments to suck up any dust on my couch. I love the idea, and it worked great for a while.
Overall
If you are in a pinch and can't afford a good vacuum then this is fine. Just don't expect to get a lot of use out of it. For me, $48 spent is still $48 wasted. I won't be purchasing this item again.
