shecker's Full Review: Bissell 5770 Healthy Home Bagless Upright Cyclonic...
I got this vacuum cleaner at Best Buy over a year ago. First I'll get into what is good.
The vacuum cleaner has powerful suction. It does a nice job on carpets and an okay job on bare floors. Also, when you extend the hose, the suction remains constant. They are correct when they say the system is quiet. In fact it is one of the quietest vacuums I've ever seen. It's nice that you don't have to buy bags or belts. The tools that come with the vacuum are of good build quality. In particular, I like the extension wand.
Now, it's time for the bad and there are a few. The biggest problem I see with this vacuum is the canister. For one thing, it is small. As big as this vacuum is you would think the canister would be big too, but it's not. Second, the canister is designed like a funnel. What does this mean? It means dirt, dust, and carpet fuzz will get stuck inside the canister. The only way to get it out is to either bang the canister against the side of something or reach in and pull it out. Now, here's the reason why the canister is small. The cyclone part sticks way down into the canister. So instead of having room for dirt, you have this huge cyclone thing and maybe an inch or so around it for dirt to collect. If you ask me, that's not very smart. The next problem I see with this vacuum is weight. This vacuum is heavy. As long as you have one level, you will be okay. I'd be concerned if I had a multi-level house. The height adjustment doesn't really do that much. My carpeting is not very thick. However, if I want to vacuum, I have to set the heiht to the setting just below the highest setting. Otherwise the brush bar will bog down. Finally, the motor for the brush bar seems to be loud. I have tile in a good part of my house. Sometimes I like to vacuum it with the brush bar on. But I don't because it has this high pitch noise that echos real bad, especially when you are in a room with tile floors and blank walls.
Would I recommend this vacuum? If you have carpet which is not very thick and can put up with the flaws I mentioned, go ahead and get it. As for me, I probably wouldn't get another one.
