Thank you Bissell. I know it's his instinct, but it stinks.

Pros: It actually removes the odor, without leaving an odd smell.
Cons: Expensive, ounce for ounce, but worth it.
The Bottom Line: It not only removes the stain, but truly removes the odor as well. If you have a persistent pet, you need to keep this in your house.

| jican's Full Review: Bissell Pet and Stain Remover |
I have two Boston Terriers, one male and one female. My honey had two females, but one of them passed in December. She was 16 years old and leaky.
When the old girl would leak, my male would instinctively mark her spot, giving me a double whammy. We kept the dogs contained, but as life happens, she'd let go many times on my 3 year old carpet. Then, along comes my little stud, to christen her stain. I had purchased the Bissell Spotbot. over a year ago, to take care of this issue and it did a remarkable job cleaning the stain.
When the old girl passed, my male continued his little task and even went on my sofa. I'm ready to tie his appendage in a knot. Oh, the foul aroma would greet me as I entered the front door. It was nothing shy of gross!
MY FIND
I noticed that BJ's Wholesale carried the Bissell Pet Odor and Soil Removal Formula. It sells for $14.99 for a 48 fluid ounce bottle and works hand in hand with my Spotbot. The regular Bissell cleaner works fine for cleaning the stains, but the scent must have remained and my male kept going back. Oh, he had a party!
The regular Bissell cleaner sells for $14.99 for 128 fluid ounces. My honey remarked, I get less for my money, but I said it was cheaper than buying a new carpet and wanted to give it a try. In the cart it went.
AT HOME
As soon as I got home, I vacuumed the carpet and couch and mixed the solution per the manufacturers instructions. This cleaner comes with a Scotchguard™ protector and the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. All the better for me.
I didn't bother to test any patches, (as recommended) it was either do or die. I saturated my (suede-like) couch with the mixture and then vacuumed it up with my Spotbot. , manually. I then manually scrubbed the berber carpet stains with the Spotbot too. In no time, the odor dissipated and as the carpet and couch dried, it was gone, for me at least. I could barely smell the light, lemony scent that you get directly from the bottle.
My male's instinct became a habit and he marked again. I used this cleaner and the stain and odor came out again. Not only did it clean and remove the pet stains, but other stains as well. On my couch and carpet, I have no rings. We decided to rent a professional rug cleaner and use this on the whole room, to get every spot. I no longer get hit with the odor when I enter my home or the room. I can now use the couch without any of my male's foul marks or odors.
BISSELL RECOMMENDS
That you vacuum first and test a small, hidden spot, before trying to see if color is affected. If your upholstery has a cleanability code tag, do not use on code "X" or "S". Bissell also recommends not using this cleaner on silk, velvet, vinyl, leather or 100% cotton upholstery. They recommend using this cleaner on code "WS" or "W".
Bissell also recommends keeping out of reach of children. It may cause irritation to your eyes. In the event of eye contact with this solution, flush completely for 15 minutes. If the irritation persists, contact your physician.
BOTTOM LINE
Ounce for ounce, this cleaner is more than double the price of the regular Bissell cleaner. It is worth every penny and I'm so glad I found it. I give this product my highest endorsement.

You may like to read one of my first reviews, I wrote on my Spotbot. This little machine really works great, still.
