| kparsons13's Full Review: Bissell OxyKIC Vacuum |
Yesterday, I woke up at 2:45am to go use the bathroom to find I had stepped in a pile of throw up from my little kitten. He had managed to throw up all over my nice ivory carpeting. I covered it and went back to bed and was ready for action to be taken in the real morning when I woke up again.
I went to the store since I was out of Spot Shot which is what I have been using and looked in the cleaning aisle for something new and different. Kmart has a wide selection of Carpet Stain Removers and I chose the Bissell Oxy Kic-Oxygen Activated Carpet Spot and Stain Remover.
~What it Looks Like~
The Bissell Oxy Kic is a "dual chamber system that activates the power of oxygen with a tought spot cleaner." (taken from packaging)
It has two bottles that are made of steel or aluminum, not sure which but my instincts say steel. These two bottles are hooked together by the handle.
The handle is blue plastic with a lever on top to squeeze out the cleaner. The cleaner comes out in a foam onto your carpet. The handle part is not made of sturdy plastic and if bent the wrong way enough, it would probably break. So you need to be careful with the handle since it is kind of flimsy.
The lever you push down on is easy to use and is made of a sturdier light blue plastic.
~How It Works~
Bissell claims that Oxy Kic will "permanently remove carpet spots and stains." They give the following examples as some of the areas that the Bissell Oxy Kic will work such as:
Red Wine
Kool-Aid
Coffee
Fruit Juice
Gravy
Lipstick
Motor Oil
Ink
It didn't include throw up stains but I wanted to try it anyways and also on other marks on my carpet. So I wanted to see what kind of power the Bissell Oxy Kic had. When I pressed down the lever, it came shooting out and foaming slightly on my carpet. You are supposed to let it sit for 3-5 minutes and then blot the spot with a clean cloth. In this case with throw up, I couldn't just blot, I had to get a wet rag and scrub it out.
I tried it on lipstick and you could just blot it out, there was no stain left on my carpet.
Bissell Oxy Kic also worked on coffee stains that I had from walking from the kitchen to the computer room.
The last test was the Kool-Aid which is one my favorite things to drink. I had a Kool-Aid Tropical Punch stain on my carpet and Bissell blotted out the stain after using it. So in all these different situations Bissell Oxy Kic worked out great.
~Directions for Use~
1. Shake, fully press trigger spray in circular pattern and completely cover the spot.
2. Let Oxy Kic settle into stain for 3-5 minutes.
3. Blot spot or stain with a clean dry cloth.
~Final Thoughts~
Bissell Oxy Kic worked on everything I tried it on, even though I had to scrub a little. It claims that no scrubbing is required and on the stains that I had there was no scrubbing required except for the throw up which had chunks in it. So I understand why I had to scrub and the stain was lifted immediately out of my white carpeting.
I was quite pleased with the Bissell Oxy Kic that only cost $4.99 and worked great. They do recommend trying out a small patch in an area before use in case of any discoloration on your carpet. I didn't have any discoloration involved in my stain removal.
The contents are under pressure so you can't puncture the container. For some people there is also a warning against eye irritation which I did not experience. If you get it in your eye somehow, you are to immediately rinse with water. For Skin Contact, you should wash the area immediately. You have to store at temperatures below 120 degrees or else the contents may burst, And for you cold weather people out there, you musn't allow this to freeze or it won't work properly.

I have to say that I give this product 5 stars for what it was able to achieve so quickly and easily. I was very impressed by the use of it. The thought of a dual chamber system looks a little wierd but it works. It does activate the power of oxygen with the cleaner and comes out strong. There isn't an odor that I noticed that irritated my eyes like some cleaners do. It was safe to use and easy. I would recommend that if you have small spots on your carpet of stains, this is the bottle to get.
Until next time,
