barinet1's Full Review: Bissell 1715-G Spotlifter Bagless Handheld Vacuum
Why did we buy the Bissell Spot Lifter?
After recently having week-long company, we discovered three or four unsightly, stinky stains on our living room carpet, which is a light blue/gray color. We needed to get them out ASAP, so went to one of our local Walmarts, and saw the inexpensive Bissell Spot Lifter! We did see other products to compare this machine with, but none had the reputation of Bissell nor the small price tag. What a perfect solution! (Or so we thought!)
Why do we dislike this item so much???
We brought the Spot Lifter home and immediately plugged it in, and mounted it on the wall with handy bracket they included. I let it charge for almost 30 hours, and thought I was ready to tackle these gross stains in the carpet. I added the water and the Little Green Formula to the machine as directed, and proceeded to treat the first stain. Wow!!! This thing works great, sounds and feels powerful! I got through the first stain, and was pleased with the results! On to the next stain, and this little powerhouse machine attacked it with the same vigor it had used on the first stain. I got about thirty seconds into this stain, which is basically little more than pre-treating it, and the Spot Lifter started to die!!! The battery was dead after TEN MINUTES!!! So, very unpleased at this point, I wound up plugging the machine back in and used a sponge to finish the job. And why do we hate this item so much??? The battery lasts only 10-15 minutes after being fully charged! Who knew it would take two or three days to remove 4 stains from our carpet???
Is there anything we like about this machine?
While the biggest con is the lack on battery longevity, the Spot Lifter does have some positive sides to it.
-Its strength is its best feature. It can get a nasty stain out in under ten minutes or so.
-The measuring of water and formula is worry-free, because the cup has marked increments that are well-labeled.
-It is a good-looking machine. It is white, with clear teal output/intake cups on either end.
-It is compact and lightweight, making it easy to use.
-It uses the Bissell Little Green Formula, which is effective and fresh-smelling.
-The machine comes with a wall-mount bracket, which makes for easy storage.
-At about $45, this could be considered a good deal.
While I do enjoy using this machine for the occasional carpet/furniture stain, I cannot recommend the Spot Lifter to anyone who has a constant need to remove stains. The battery is the biggest downfall and it really impacts the usability of this machine. Shop around for something better...I really wish we had!
