I admit it, I usually buy toys for my children that I really want myself! That was certainly the case when I bought my youngest daughter her own Bitty Baby from American Girl. I got the catalog in the mail and could not put it down. The pictures of the dolls and the clothes and the incredible accessories made me remember all the fun I had playing "house" with my best friend, Rene.
I decided to get Bitty Baby for my daughter for Christmas. She came with a sleeper, a book, a bottle of "pretend" milk and one of juice, too. I decided to go all out and get the diaper bag and a couple more outfits while I was at it.. it was Christmas after all.
The diaper bag came with a tiny plastic bottle of "pretend" baby lotion and one of baby powder, also. Even better, it had room for all the outfits I had purchased.
This was a great present, my daughter was thrilled. She played with her "baby" all the time.
Over the years on birthdays or holidays, I purchased more outfits, a set of shoes and socks, the wicker bed, etc.. The price may seem steep at first, but quality and workmanship of "Bitty Baby" and all the American Girl dolls is unsurpassed. "Bitty Baby" has a cute face and a soft huggable body. The outfits are well made, sturdy and easy for fairly young girls to put on and take off several times a day. Since that seems to be what they do the most is change that baby!
My daughter is 15 now, and her "Bitty Baby" is safely tucked away in her closet awaiting the day she decides to give it to her daughter.
