Pros: worked for over 15 years, not hard to fix if you can fix electrical stuff
Cons: light weight yields ruff cut grass , cord can kill plants, bag breaks neigbours plants
The Bottom Line: If you have a smaller lawn with wispy grass. It'll do the job and soldier on for years. Not for the show lawn or a hint of commercial use

This mower was bought when I first got a house with a small lawn. I didn't consider diffrent mowers much but got the cheapest least maintenance one. Indeed the maintenance over the years has amounted to sharpening it every year and cleaning the cuttings from inside the engine case. Did this every 3 years by opening the screws on the case and vacuming or picking out stuff from it. Once after 10 years it needed new brushes for the motor. Then it ran fine again. The brushes were hard to find but a local electrical place ordered the right parts (pre-internet).
The unit is too light for our new house and cannot cut the thick grass without going very slowlyyyyyyyyyy. It leaves strands of grass standing and looking very rough cut. The blade dulls very quickly but can be easilt hand sharpend by turning it over and hand filing. The unit has an old thoogle switch that has worked for 18 years of grass cutting. It has always been hangared or garaged and never left in the rain or snow. The unit still has life in it and has costed (amortized) down to about $ 7.00 a year for the hardware cost.
It's a good starter for a small lawn but I am so tired of pulling the cord though I can do crosscut and diagonal patterns easily after all these years.
I now want something to mulch the lawn with one pass.
I'm getting older and am wanting a rear bager rather than the side bagger this is. It breaks the next guys palnts on turning and nearly capsizes when the bag is full.
oh well maybe I can retire it this year with my bigger lawn and get a real mower. With all them saftey do dawds. Do they really help ?
