JenniferSC's Full Review: Black & Decker 18", 6.5a Electric Mower
My husband bought this lawnmower without my help, and I must admit, I was biased before we ever even took it for a spin. I simply can't get past the chord thing. Mechanically it works fine. We have a small yard. I trip all over the chord, though, and it's embarrassing, not to mention, annoying.
Part of what appeals to me about mowing the yard is being able to enjoy the outdoors, the smell of the cut grass, and the sheer gratification of shaving down tall grass. Determining my "pattern" has always been fun, too. Not with this chord. I am a slave to it. It has murdered (or at least severely handicapped) several of my more fragile plants. It gets all tangled up on anything in its way. It comes loose from the female part of the lawn mower.
As happy as I am to welcome Spring, I dread seeing the new green blades popping up in the yard. It only means that the day is fast approaching when I will have to wrestle with that (&)(*&^ mower!
I do like the concept of the electric mower, and it is nice to be free of the gasoline and the tugging on the starter chord. This mower would probably perfect in the cordless version.
