Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:Lightweight, maneuverable, clean, quiet
Cons:Unreliable
The Bottom Line: May be good for small lawns, but it's a definite NO for medium and larger.
[Edit: This review has been pretty much panned by... erm... review reviewers. I considered re-writing it to conform to standards, but frankly, it contains is exactly the information I wish I had had when considering the original purchase. You can find mowing comparison articles from a variety of sources with more resources and technical expertise than I have, but what none of them tell you is exactly this: It's a great mower for small lawns, but the motor burns out easily with any kind of continual use on a larger area.]
I really wanted an electric mower. While gas mowers have improved over the years, they're still heavy, noisy, pollution-spewing monsters.
So, even though I have .75 acres of lawn, I got this mower. I LOVED it. It was lightweight, quiet, clean, and mulched relatively well. The cord was easy to get used to. Using it was almost like vacuuming my lawn!
Then it died. It was 5 weeks old, and I'd used it 4 times. When I returned it to the Home Depot, the gentleman in their Indoor Garden department said that these burn out all the time, and they don't recommend them for lawns larger than .3 acres.
I knew when I bought it that it was designed for smaller lawns, but I thought that was because it's not self-propelled. I never expected to work it to death in less than a month and a half just through normal usage. I was very very disappointed.
