I studied the reviews, etc. before purchasing my B&D electric mower. There were, unfortunately, few electric mower choices of merit in 2004 (unlike the 1990s) when I made my purchase. For anyone considering purchasing a B&D mower, please take the following into consideration.
Armature fails:
<>Owned my B&D electric mower less than two years. Last weekend, the mower noticeably slowed (not due to any outside factor), then quit with a "tick, tick, ticking" sound. B&D service center tells me the armature (motor) is gone, that the shoe on the end of the wire is poorly glued on, flies off, and wrecks the motor at almost two years of age. Nice.
Grass clogs:
<>One other note, anyone purchasing such a mower should expect the discharge opening to clog with grass even when the grass is dry. I have to empty the bag when 1/3-1/2 full. When the grass is damp with dew or wet, do something other than cut the grass...it's not worth the headaches.
Noise:
<>For an electric mower, the mower isn't the quietest thing around. A minor annoyance, but worth mentioning. Use earplugs.
