Black & Decker 3.6V Pivot Driver Cordless Screwdriver
I got this Black & Decker model to replace a older version which gave up the ghost after many years of repeated charging and general use.
The old model was of a more basic design. The head didn't pivot, the battery was fixed so after many chargings a memory effect developed and thus the effectiveness of the unit became shorter and shorter over time.
New and Improved
The Black & Decker 3.6V Pivot Driver Cordless Screwdriver has many improvements over earlier powered models of screwdrivers.
Spec: 3.6V 180 RPM, 120V AC
Includes: VP750 Screwdriver, (1) VP100 VersaPak battery,
(1) VP131-1 port charger,
Double ended screwdriver bit: #2(phillips) x #8(slotted)
At first glance you can see that the battery provides significant power for most screw driving needs, the revolutions per minute are enough that you will get most projects done in a short amount of time. The battery pack is interchangeable and can be used in most of Black & Decker's VersaPak cordless products. This is a very nice feature as you can have a backup battery charged and never have to wait to finish a project or resort to hand power screw driving. The Gold battery pack can be charged a minimum of 300 times, they are not subject to a memory effect so they can be left in the charger constantly without any ill effect. This is due to the Nihm technology on which they are based.
A nice feature that comes in handy when driving or drilling in tight spots, is the pivoting head feature. Press the side button and the head pivots and locks into a 45 degree angle to allow you to get into those hard to reach places.
The nicest thing about the Pivot Driver is the fact that it is small, not like a full size power drill you keep in the work shop. This driver you can keep in the kitchen, ready for that one screw that needs tightening or a small hole drilled. It will meet those needs and then some.
