I purchased the Black & Decker B2300 after 16 years of reliable service with my old Sunbeam upright bread maker. I was a little leary because of the poor reviews I had read but was pleasantly surprised at the first beautiful loaf of basic white bread...and the next loaf of whole wheat bread...and the next loaf of banana nut bread...and all the subsequent loaves of various breads that I've made!
I haven't experienced any of the problems I had read about, and am delighted with this product! I especially like the 15 minute delay for the machine to adjust the temperature of liquids, it saves me the time of waiting for water to warm to room temperature. The kneading paddles do come out of the pan with my bread, but they did that with my old Sunbeam as well. I just pull them out with tongs.
As with any bread maker, the baker may need to make small adjustments to recipes depending on the humidity and altitude of the home. All of my tried and true bread machine recipes work beautifully with the Black & Decker B2300, with no adjustments. I've doubled some of my old 1.5 lb loaf recipes to make 3 lb loaves and they've been great. There are loads of breadmaker recipes on the internet, so I wasn't too worried about the scant few in the manual.
