When my son came to me and asked me to loan him some money to purchase a lawnmower because his had broken down, I looked at him don’t you mean give you the money, (LOL) because when ever you so called loan any of your children any amount of money you may as well kiss it goodbye and consider it a gift. That way there is no hard feelings when you do not see the money for a couple of decades. So that is when I went out and purchased a Black and Decker 24 volt mulching mower for him. It was a little bit pricey but I figure that if I get him something good then my problem is solved so that he will not have to ask me again. We found this at Home Depot for just around $300.00 plus tax. The reason that we went this route instead of getting a gas or electric model is because I have a more expensive model at my house and it does an excellent job, plus it saves me money on gas and oil.
Description
This model is very heavy, it weighs approximately 80 pounds and has only 19” cut path. This also has a 24 volt sealed maintenance free battery that will hold a charge up to 2 hours for cut time, and you can cut up to 1/3 of an acre of grass. This mower will be able to be charged up to 60% in 4 hours and 100% in ten hours. You should receive a mulch blade and a rear discharge bag. This start with just a flip of a switch and it also has one touch height control which means when you adjust one wheel all of the wheels will be adjusted to the desired height simultaneously from 1.5” to 3.5”. The handles will fold out of the way for easy storage. This will also cut up to 1/3 of an acre.
Experience
Once you get this to your house all you have to do is fold the handle up and lock into place and charge it up before using it. This mower will come with every thing that you will need to get started; this includes a 24 volt charger, the rear bag, a safety key, and a mulch plug. I have been able to use this affectively on our yard. It cuts evenly and is very quiet and only having to go over the one time to make it look its best. This is not self propelled so you will have to push this along with your own leg power. The deck has a lifetime warranty and you should not have to worry about using it. There is a LED light that will tell you how much charge is left in the battery while you are using this mower. As you use this it will start out with all green lights and as you go and hit the high grass the lights will fluctuate up and down. This rolls along smoothly and with ease. You will have no problems with this going around corners. You should get about one to two hours of cut time to do your lawn.
Warranty
This has a one year warranty but I have dealt with Home Depot and they will work with you if any thing happens to this.
Conclusion
I highly recommend trying one of these types of lawn mowers to help with the environment and save you a lot of trips to the service station for gas and oil.
