lars4sho's Full Review: Black & Decker Le750 Lawn Edger
I live in the desert, and I have so many problems with my huge grassy yard, if I can find anything that works for me I am happy to share it with others. Last year I fired my landscaper, because I was constantly replacing patches of my grass. I decided to take the challenging job myself. I am originally from the Midwest, and I have not had much experience with the demands of trying to keep the lawn green in the desert. Needless to say I have made every mistake in the book.
I went to Home Depot and bought all of the things I assumed I would need to do my landscaping. One of these items was an edger. At the time I didnt even know that you could buy an electric edger, so I bought the regular kind with the wooden handle. I dont even think these should be legal to sell. After I spent an afternoon in the Las Vegas sun trying to edge my lawn I never used that thing again.
This year, when spring came around I found myself back at Home Depot, browsing through the endless isles of homeowner delight. Then I saw it, the Black and Decker 2 in 1 Landscape Edger. Immediately my thoughts drifted back to all my hours of manual labor last year, I had to have it.
The price tag was $80.00; I would have spent $200.00 to avoid the blisters. I took it home and couldnt wait to have a perfectly groomed yard. Within minutes I had it put together, its only two bolts to assemble the pieces of the handle. Away I went, in edging paradise.
The edger is electric, so I just plugged it to the extension cord. In my opinion that would be better than gas, because I dont have to fill the tank. Since its just the edges the cord doesnt get all tangled up or anything, and if you keep it behind you, it wont get run over. There is also a little hook by the handle to hold the cord, so it doesnt get away from you.
It was a little difficult to maneuver the tool around a curved piece of my lawn, but it was still 100% easier to handle than the old edger.
Of course the thing isn't called a whisper edger and makes some noise, but it's not loud enough to bug the neighbors. It is just like any power tool, not even as loud as a lawn mower.
The only negative thing I could say about the edger is that it creates sparks if the blade hits the concrete. This could be bad if there was a child or pet around, but I dont see any danger for an adult.
I think this is a great invention and I didnt have any problems with it. I would definitely recommend it, and I will never use a manual edger again.
