I bought this unit in the summer and it only had light duty for the rest of the mowing season. During the following season the motor brushes burned out after minimal use. I attempted to buy new brushes and no one had any stock available, not even the parts stores. I wrote to B&D and finally purchased brushes directly from B&D. The cost of the parts was reasonable but the shipping more than doubled the price. After installing the new brushes, I got approximately 15 hours of operation before the new brushes had burned out. The graphite brushes are held in place with plastic housings which disintegrate when the brush heats up during operation. After disintegration the brush is no longer held properly in place and becomes deformed. This is clearly a bad design and B&D probably knows about it but are saying nothing, just quietly selling out of replacement brushes. I was told that there would be a 6+ month lead time before replacement brushes would be available in stock at the parts store. This unit only had light duty and in no way was it abused or overused. Operation was according to the instructions.
I wasted my money twice, once for the edger and once for replacement brushes and now I want to let others know about the problem.
