Pros:Nice set up, enjoyed the pre-set feature. Easy to use.
Cons:Only lasted two years! Carafe top was tricky-leaked when poured and fell off on occasion.
The Bottom Line: Wouldn't recommend only because of the early failure I had...and the unit didn't get heavy use, only moderate use
at my house.
I had a really ugly, 1970's kitchen two years ago this month.
In it was an old, brown B & D spacemaker coffee maker which worked very well; it came with the house when we purchased it in 1994.
Well the ugly, brown and gold kitchen was replaced with a beautiful light colored kitchen in 2003, so I HAD to replace the very old brown spacemaker that worked great with a spiffy new bright white one to match my kitchen.
I did appreciate the pre-set feature that would make my coffee before I got up. It spoiled me. But I did run into a few problems. I, like another writer, had a problem with the lid falling off. And this coffee carafe had a tendency to pour sloppily, the lid was an issue. But I still enjoyed my coffee maker. The coffee was okay...it met my needs.
A month or so ago, my coffee maker started having "accidents" when I'd fill the resevoir with coffee and popped it in place. It would leak water on occasion. That must have been a symptom because it just died on me a few days ago. There aren't even "I'm TRYING to make coffee!!" sounds coming from the unit. The clock still works though. I have enough counter space for a counter top unit which I'll replace it with. I'm not paying $50 plus for another new one that will last me two years. Rather disappointing, especially after getting rid of an older model just because of the color.
