The Black and Decker Vac-N-Mulch system is a fairly useful tool. As a blower, it should meet all of your needs. Two speed settings are available via the power switch.
As a vacuum & mulching system, it is pretty good. I've never tried another vac/mulch tool, so I don't have much to compare it to, but it didn't vac and mulch quite as quickly and efficiently as I hoped it would.
Our yard has some BIG trees which drop large quantities of leaves, so the vac/mulch aspect of this tool was attractive. You simply attach a hose to it, fit the other end to your trash can, and vacuum up your yard debris. Leaves and small twigs are mulched and blown into the trash can for bagging and disposal. Very convenient. The mulching action is very good; the resulting mulch will dissolve well into a useful material for your garden, etc.
The greatest drawback is that it isn't as fast as I hoped. In the time it takes me to vacuum/mulch a pile of leaves with this tool, I could just as easily bag the leaves myself. The advantage of the tool is that you can dispose of much more debris in the mulched state, and the work isn't as back-breaking as bending over repeatedly to bag the leaves the traditional way. And if you want to recycle your yard waste, the mulch the tool produces is great.
It's not too expensive either; I bought mine for $70 at Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse in October. You might be able to get it even cheaper now that the yard season is over.
The quality of the tool is good. In typical Black and Decker fashion, it appears to be sturdy and durable.
It is fairly noisy, so you might want to use hearing protection (I do). Eye protection is also recommended, especially when using this tool as a blower. Wind speed/velocity is high.
