The Bod harness is the best deal going for beginners:

1. Easy to adjust and put on.

2. Comfortable enough.

3. If you are running a little fat, it is not grossly unflattering like many other harnesses(climbing harnesses have a tendency to make you feel fat even if you are not--actually climbers in general are obsessed with flab. The better you get the more you'll wish you could lose that last five pounds....

4. Very reasonable price. You can't whine about fifty bones.

5. Durable. My first Bod lasted me four years. I gave it away when I shelled out for a woo-woo harness that I didn't end up liking. Shoulda stayed with my Bod.
