My first 1 POD coffee maker experience was with a Malitta maker.I loved the maker as well as the coffee but found a hard time buying the coffee pods.I could only find them at Target and most of the time they were out of my decaf.After 15 months I decided to buy a machine that I could use different pods for or atleast purchase them at the grocery store.
I then purchased a Piece of crap black and decker POD machine.I read all instructions clean and dried all parts pluged it in and I smelled this horrible burnt plastic smell. I thought maybe just because it was new was why so I ran a few cups of water through the brewer and still my whole house smelled. I gave up and went to bed. The following morning I made a cup and again my whole house smelled like burnt plastic as well as the coffee tasted like it. I ran some white vineager through it and clean water twice- STILL tasted and smelled like burnt plastic. That evening I made a cup and still same thing. The following morning I ran clean water through and took the whole machine apart and cleaned everything again and STILL burnt plastic again. The next day I tried again and same thing.
Later I then wrote an email to B&D stating the problem.
While waiting for a response I tried brewing more coffee and cleaned it several more times. By the 5 day I was gaging at the smell unpluged it and sprayed air freshner and lit candels to kill the horrible smell. 3 days later B&D sent me a email stating that "over time your machine gets hard water deposits and that cleaning the machine with vineager will solve the problem" WHAT THE HECK PEOPLE???????? I told them the machine was new. They never responded to my 2nd email and that was over 6 weeks ago.
BYE BYE black & decker. In the trash it went!! I went and purchased a Senseo and I LOVE it!! That is the last B&D product I purchase ever again.
