graphics_guy's Full Review: Sony CDQ 80SBB (300CDQ80SBB) 16x CD-R Spindle (50 ...
I'm currently going through my 3rd package of these CDR's, and the fact that I've stuck with the same brand 3 times in a row says volumes! :)
I've used these for both audio/music cd's, and also for making data cd's -- I've never had an error or other problem (whereas with cheap/no-name cdr's, I have frequently had cdr's fail).
I've used these CDR's on all of the following...
Slow external HP USB-1 drive, at 4x speed.
Fast internal DVD/CDR drive in new Sony VAIO.
Fast internal drive in Dell computer.
Fast Aleratec standalone cd duplicator.
And a 'finicky' standalone no-name duplicator at work.
These cd's have plenty of room to write on them, and the surface is very easily writable with a "Sharpie" permanent marker (whereas with some other cd's the surface is 'waterproof' and the ink beads up and doesn't stick). The surface of the disk is all light/white/silver, and you can essentially write on the whole label side.
Lately (spring 2006) I keep finding these CDR's on sale everywhere - last price I paid was around $9 for 50.
The only limitation/complaint I have is that my standalone Aleratec duplicator could go up to 52x speed, but these CDR's only go up to 48x (at that high speed, I guess it doesn't really matter though, eh? ;)
