Lips are one of the most prominent features on the face. They are often the first thing that others notice when they look at you. This is why it is so important to take care of your lips. Blistex DCT can help you do this. But first lets talk about lips and the problems they can have.
LIP PROBLEMS:
Dryness and Chapping: Moisture rapidly evaporates from the lips, causing them to dry out very easily. This results in chapping and cracking. This condition can be quite uncomfortable and unsightly as well. Any woman who had chapped lips and tries to wear lipstick knows what I’m talking about! Your lips' natural tendency toward dryness and chapping is compounded by the fact that they are more prominent than other body parts. They are usually unprotected by clothing and fully exposed to the elements. Sun, wind and cold speed the rate of moisture loss, but your lips can also be effected by indoor conditions such as centrally heated or air-conditioned rooms in which the humidity is low.
Cold sores: Cold Sores are viral infections, which cause recurrent groups of irritating, even painful blisters on the lips. They too can be painful and unsightly.
Sun damage: Lips have almost no melanin, the natural pigment in skin that helps screen out the sun's harmful rays. Therefore, lips rarely tan, and can easily burn. When the sun causes lips to burn, long lasting damage can occur. Collagen can be effected. Collagen is the protein that gives lips body and resilience and helps keep wrinkles from forming. The sun can negatively effect Collagen production.
Aging: As we get older, our lips change. Lips have an extremely thin outer protective layer so as the body ages, that thin layer becomes even thinner. In addition, we lose the oil and water barrier that keeps lips moist. Without proper attention, lips can age faster than other areas of skin.

I discovered Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment (DCT) a few months ago. I had been an avid Chapstick user for years, but find that Blistex DCT is far more effective in keeping my lips hydrated and supple. Why is this you ask? Because DCT contains Aloe Vera, Cocoa Butter and Vitamins A and E. These ingredients work to smooth the lips and make them look soft and healthy. Highly Kissable! DCT will also prevent moisture loss that occurs from exposure to environmental elements. DCT also contains SPF 20 and is PABA free. It is also waterproof and will protect you for 80 minutes while in the water. Using DCT regularly may help prevent sun damage and premature aging of the lips. So often when we go out in the sun and apply sunscreen we neglect to protect our lips. Blistex DCT is the answer!
INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS
Active Ingredients:
Petrolatum 54.88%--------Protectant
Octyl methoxycinnamate 7.3%-------sunscreen
Oxybenzone 4.5%------sunscreen
Inactive ingredients: aloe Vera extract, camphor, candlelit wax, cetyl alcohol, cocoyl hydrolyzed soy protein, cocoa butter, corn oil, flavor, lanolin, menthol, menthyl anthranilate, ozokerite, phenol, saccharin, vitamins A & E
Consumers are instructed to apply liberally and evenly to lips before exposure to the sun, wind or cold, to reapply frequently during prolonged exposure or after 80 minutes in the water, and to consult a doctor for use on kids under 6 months of age.
WHAT I LIKE AND DISLIKE
DCT comes in a small round container with a twist off top. It is small enough to fit on any pocket or purse. The smell is quite pleasant, kind of coconutty. Many lip treatments have a medicinal smell, but DCT smells great. I obvious reason I love this product is because it is effective. It will protect your lips and leave them feeling smooth and soft and very kissable. The only drawback to this product is the packaging. I prefer lip products that can be applied directly to your lips from the container. With this product you have to stick your finger in the container and smooth the product on your lips with your finger. Then of course you need to wipe your finger off. I find myself constantly in search of a Kleenex, and have often resorted to wiping it on my clothes (ewwww). But the fact that this product is so effective keeps me dipping my finger in for more. It is also a bit pricier than some other lip treatments, but only by 10-40 cents. Definitely worth the extra pennies.
FINAL RECCOMMENDATION
This product can be used by anyone who wants to care for his or her lips. You can use it when you have a cold sore, or chapped lips, or you can use it everyday to help prevent drying, cracking, sun damage and aging. I recommend using it on a daily basis to keep your lips looking and feeling their best.
