Pros: Prevents from sunburned lips. Three great flavors: Berry, Mint and Regular. It works.
Cons: I have a tube of Chap Stick beside it. None really.
Those Long, Cold Nights:
.....There have been many-a-time when I have been stranded in the cold without anything to keep my lips moist in the bitterness of the wind. I have a tendency, like others, to lick my lips. Well, as most of you know, licking lips to keep them moist only enhances the problem. Even though I say that I don't lick my lips, I know I do. It is a constant habit that we instinctly have. This is the only real reason that it is inportant to carry around a tube of Blistex or Chap Stick. But which one is better. Hopefully my two reviews on these items can help make that decision.
.....For the better part of my life, I have always stuck with Chap Stick in my pocket. It was, and still is, my favorite. But one day, my lips were extremely chapped and I was without any. So my mom gave me her stick of Blistex Lip Balm she never used. I used it and within a few applications, a few hours later, my lips were back to normal. Not that Chap Stick wouldn't, though.
.....Our lips get chapped all the time. This either comes from licking them, cold winter weather, windburn, or blistering summers and sunburn. It is important to not only use a lip moisturizer in the winter, but also the summer. Hot, dry air can cause your lips to get dryed out, too, and this will lead to them getting chapped. And nobody likes being about with chapped lips or lips that hurt when you open your mouth. Blistex Lip Balm provides 15 times your natural protection against burning. Its SPF 15 rating is recommended for people who burn moderately and tan gradually. So no one should go without a stick of this wonderful stuff, or chapstick, no matter the season.
.....Blistex Lip Balm is fairly simple to use. If you have a new tube of it, you will have to remove the protective seal. If there isn't one or it is torn, then return it immediately and get a new one free of charge. When you have it open, the top of the stick is flat with a squared off edge going around it. After a few uses, it wil become rounded and easier to apply.
.....Now that I discussed the obvious above, time to do some applyin'. To start using, you will need to wind the bottom of the tube to raise the stick. You need to turn it in a clockwise motion, which is something that comes naturally to most of us without thinking of it. You only ned about and eighth inch of it exposed to get a nice clean application. To apply, just go around your lips until there is a generous amount of substance coating them, dont go skimpy. I put a little extra on blistery parts. It glides on easily and effortlessly. Then you just rotate the bottom counter-clockwise motion to lower the stick back into the tube. Then just pop the cap back on and throw it in your pocket until next time.
Three Of A Kind:
..Blistex Lip Balm comes in a variety of flavors, or kinds. They have BERRY, which I have, MINT and REGULAR. I favor berry because the mint is odd tasting, and if this stuff is going to be on my tastable lips, I dont want an odd flavor. Original flavor really isnt flavored. That doesnt mean it doesnt have a taste, as all things do. With three variations of Blistex Lip Balm, you are sure to find one you like. (go with berry).
The Bad News:
.....Though I find this product from Blistex to be a lifesaver, it isn't perfect. I do find one, but very minor, problem wit the Blistex Lip Balm. When you apply Blistex to your lips, there tends to be a a thick gloppy-like feeling. It creates a goopy ring sometimes. But if you find this to be an issue, you can just rub your finger or a tissue across your lips to remove any excess substance. But in the harsh winter wind, I feel it is better to have a thicker layer to keep wind off of them.
