A few times I was out with my daughter and her family I noticed she had these small bags in her purse. I saw her eating them in the car and asked about them. She told me she buys them because they are convenient and just toss in your purse when you're running out. I'm not sure what brand they were but she had purchase a smaller package at Target and I thought it was not economical. She likes to snack on them because they are healthy and lower in calories than other snacks.
I usually purchase a can of almonds every few months because almonds are one of my favorite nuts to snack on. Blue Diamond is my favorite brand. I also enjoy the Special K Vanilla Almond cereal because I like almonds.
On my last trip to BJs Wholesale Club I noticed this package. After carefully studying the quantity and price of $9.99 for this package, I decided to get them. It was much cheaper than the smaller package at Target.
~ Package Description ~ 32 Grab & Go Bags, .625 OZ each, total 20 OZ 100 Calories per bag Calcium 4% Iron 4% Vitamin E 25% Magnesium 10% Protein 4g Dietary Fiber 2g Sugar 1g Total Fat 14% of Sat. Fat Whole Natural
~ Reasons to purchase this product ~ I have purchased different types of almonds but these are the whole natural. They are not smoked, roasted nor salted. This is better because when you are out, they will not make you thirsty. I try not to overindulge in liquid drinks when I'm out to eliminate going to a public rest areas.
Originally I thought each bag would not have enough to enjoy but I opened a bag just now to count the almonds and there were a total of 19. That seems to be the right amount. It takes time chewing them which is a good thing since chewing uses up calories.
Benefits from eating almonds are far more than eating a chocolate bar or snacking on cookies/cake. I've read that eating nuts can help lower the bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol. Also, it can help prevent hardening of the arteries.
Since these are pre-portioned and each is 100 calories, it helps control the amount because when we don't measure and like something, we tend to eat more of it. So I could save money by purchasing the cans but I would most likely eat more at each serving.
~ Overall ~ Considering you get 32 bags for $10, it is inexpensive since each bag contains the right amount for a serving. It makes it easy for anyone to grab a bag and go. No need to look for a baggie to measure your own.
This is a great healthy snack for anywhere anytime for anyone. I'm always running out and sometimes make bad choices eating on the run so I keep these in my bag to keep me satisfied till I can make the right choice for my next meal.
Another reason I like this package is that they will stay fresher longer because I'm only opening one serving at a time. Now for holidays, I will still continue to purchase the larger size to place in a bowl for guests but now I can just buy the mixed nuts rather than almonds which I prefer over other nuts.
Grab a bag of nuts on your way out. They will keep you from getting hungry and making bad choices of other tempting snacks sold in machines or convenience stores.
Almonds - inexpensive, healthy and filling for me. Smart Snacking!
