| CyndiCM's Full Review: Bob The Builder Memory |
Bob The Builder Memory is one of my six year old sons favorite games. He has owned this game for several years and still plays it on a semi-regular basis.
With Bob The Builder Memory you get:
1 set of instructions
1 sturdy yellow plastic tray with 12 sections.
72 cards
The tray is made to store all 72 cards. The memory cards are small and made of very stiff cardboard. The first time you play this game the cards have to be punched out of large cardboard squares. I recommend that an adult does this as the cards do not punch out easily.
How to set up the game; the instructions suggest removing one card to keep the game from ending in a tie. However, when we play we do not do this and we have never had to deal with a tie. After mixing up all the cards place them face-down in neat rows. The instructions suggest you make the rows by placing 9 cards across and 8 down. Now you are ready to play!
How do you play Bob The Builder Memory ? As with most children's games the youngest player goes first. You flip two cards over and place them face up so that everyone can see them. If the pictures match, you keep the two cards and go again until you don't make a match. After the wrong card is turned over both cards are placed face-down again; be sure to always keep the cards in the same spot. Then you continue going in a clockwise fashion from player to player. It becomes easier to remember where the matching cards are as cards are matched and removed. The game is over when all possible matches are made.
The grand ole winner of Bob The Builder Memory game is the player with the most matching pairs.
Unlike the instructions suggest when we play Bob The Builder Memory we vary the number of cards we use. Sometimes we play with 20 or so cards, making 10 matches at a time. Sometimes we use more, it really depends on my children's moods at the time. Sometimes we use less, this is much easier on the youngest children and makes the games go much quicker. This allows for less frustration then when trying to find all 36 matches when using every one of the 72 cards.
