Back in February I received a tiny sample of Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss in the shade Heather Rose. It was a pretty medium pink shade that turned fuchsia on me. :( I loved how it smelled (grapefruit) and felt so I really wanted to try it in another shade. After searching Bobbi Brown's web site I figured the color Warm Mauve would work for me. And it did!
About the Product
Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss can be found at a Bobbi Brown Counter near you (use the search feature on Bobbi Brown's web site if you're sure of the closest location to you). It comes in a clear, frosty, round tube with a black top. The full size tube holds 0.17 fl. oz. of gloss and will cost you $18.00. The gloss has a very nice grapefruit scent. This is not a sweet grapefruit smell, but a pretty true tart, zingy grapefruit smell. While I'm not fond of grapefruits, I very much enjoy their scent. The gloss tends to be rather opaque, giving some great color and shine.
Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss is available in 10 shades: Toast, Blue Raspberry, Pansy, Pastel Pink, Warm Mauve, Heather Rose, Red Plum, Hazelnut, Maple and Black Cherry. Going by the color swatches on Bobbi Brown's web site, I'd love to give Hazelnut a try. I have found that the colors do not always remain true (as in my experience with the shade Heather Rose), so beware. You may wish to try them out before you purchase.
Here's what Bobbi Brown has to say about her product:
"An innovative lip product that combines the creamy coverage of Lip Color and the high shine of Lip Gloss. Everything you want from lipstick and lip gloss in one. Packaged in a new vial with doefoot applicator, Cream Lip Gloss is lightly scented with refreshing grapefruit. Dermatologically tested. "

bops_mom's Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss Experience
Many months ago, when my tube of Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss arrived in the mail I could not wait to try it out. I ran into the bathroom and started to apply it. I was greeted with the lovely grapefruit scent. Mmmmmm! I also noticed the applicator tip. Most lip glosses come with a slanted sponge tip applicator; Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss does have a sponge tip applicator, but it is rounded and a bit bigger than most. I quickly found that I love these slight differences and that they do make a difference in how easy it is to apply the gloss. It takes less time and seems easier to control where the gloss goes with Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss applicator.
Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss feels a little thicker than most glosses. That is not to say that it feels heavy because it doesn't in the least. It is also not tacky or sticky at all -- it feels more like a liquid lipstick. If you've tried Clinique's Liquid Lipsticks, it feels similar to that only less thick. As Bobbi Brown claims, it goes on and feels very creamy. Though I don't have the ingredient list I'd venture to say that there has to be some moisturizing ingredients in Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss as it makes my lips feel fabulous, soft and full. Now, I'm not really sure I'd agree with Bobbi Brown's claim of high shine. There is shine and it is very noticeable and nice, but it isn't high in my opinion. I own several glosses that have more shine, so if you're thinking the high shine claim means more shine than you've seen before - it doesn't.
If you've used a lip gloss in the past then you already know that lip glosses tend to have little to no lasting power. In fact, many cheap lip glosses last a good 20 minutes and that's it. Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss offers you more in this area. This gloss has some really good lasting power. While I've found Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Lip Gloss to stay on longer, Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss tends to stay on my lips for a good 2-3 hours unless I'm eating or drinking a lot.
bops_mom's Recommendation
The price is hefty and I can't say that it will be worth it to you, but if you want a gloss that offers nice shine and real color that doesn't come off in a matter of minutes you really should give Bobbi Brown's Cream Lip Gloss a try. If you don't mind reapplying your lip gloss and don't want to spend $18 for one tube of gloss, go to your local drug store and pick up a tube of Neutrogena's Moisture Shine Lip Gloss. Neutrogena offers some nice color and shine, but little lasting power (though still better than some).
As for myself, I really like my Bobbi Brown Cream Lip Gloss in Warm Mauve and if I have the opportunity to try out the Hazelnut shade, I can see myself taking the plunge although I am not yet sold on buying another tube of Warm Mauve should I ever use this one up.
